Monthly PA Message

We would like to thank everyone who has come to the Parent Socials in January at Blondies – we had a great turnout and some fun times! We would also like to thank everyone who has joined one of the gatherings to meet Andrew, Lynne, and Pamela. There have been many changes at WESS recently, and we appreciate your questions, feedback, patience, and understanding as our great school undergoes transition!

Our 3rd Annual WESS Food Festival is on Saturday – please bring a dish to share with the WESS community that’s meaningful to your family and delicious! Andrew is planning to attend with his family as well, so we hope you’ll find your way to WESS at some point between 11:30am - 2pm to celebrate our school! The WESS FUNdraiser is in the planning stage – the first meeting will be Monday, Feb 10 at 9:15a. If you’re interested please reach out to Karyn Gooden karyn@westendsecondary.com for more information how to get involved.

The WESS robotics team has received a $2,750 grant from the Gene Hass Foundation! This week, a representative from this company presented the team with a giant check that they will use towards the cost of building their robot. This year the team will compete in the Hudson Valley and NYC regional events.

Clubs

As a Journalism for All school, WESS will offer a year-long journalism elective to high school students starting in Fall 2025. More exciting news to come.

Membership Toolkit and How to Use It

When a family joins the WESS community, they are automatically added to the PA Membership Toolkit database. Membership Toolkit (MT) is the program that the WESS Parent Association uses to stay in touch with WESS parents and provide you with important information via emails and newsletters like the one you're reading right now. The fact that you have received this newsletter means that you are in the MT database.

The MT database is based on but separate from the official contact information that you provided to WESS via the blue card when your student(s) enrolled. That information is for the WESS administration only and is NOT accessible to parents. So, in order to make it possible and easy for WESS parents (and students) to find and keep in touch with each other, the PA created a user-friendly directory at Membership Toolkit.

To access Membership Toolkit and, therefore, the directory, click here, click on "login," and follow the prompts based on whether you are a returning user or a new user. If you've never logged on to MT before, you are a new user. Simply create an account and then you will find your contact information already available. Once you have created an account, you can edit your contact information and customize your profile including what, if any, information is made public in the directory.

MT is available as both a desktop and app option. It’s a great idea to have both for your convenience.

Note: If ever your contact information should change, it’s most important to change it on the official DOE blue card through WESS but it’s equally smart to also update it at Membership Toolkit if you want WESS folks to be able to reach you.

If you have any questions or challenges using Membership Toolkit, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Liz Sorem and Mary-Elizabeth Vachon, WESS PA Communications Secretary.
